Over the last 4 years Molehill Green Village Hall have been raising funds to renovate the Village Hall so that the residents of Takeley have a functioning community hub for all.
Over the last 2/3 years the trustees have worked hard to obtain funding to make upgrades to the building, however the trustees have struggled to raise funds to make necessary large upgrades to the building.
The electrics and plumbing in the building need completely replacing, however the cost of the electrics is around £25,000 and plumbing is estimated around £30,000.
In September 2024, the trustees bid for the Stansted Airport community grant, where we could apply for up to £50,000. The trustees entered an application requesting £25,000 for upgrading the electrics. In December we enjoyed a site visit with Dan from Stansted and on the 18th December 2024 the panel met to make their decision.
We have been extremely lucky to be awarded £30,000 to support our cause, we are so grateful and appreciate for Stansted Airport support and we truly hope this is the start of a new relationship now and in the future. Being so close to the airport we hope when our community hub is up and running we can offer support to our community which includes Stansted.
Over the coming weeks, as we receive formal confirmation we plan to celebrate this success with Stansted and our local community. Discussions are now underway with our local contractors to coordinate the works for 2025.
Thank you for that attended our village halls to celebrate the start of christmas.
On the 1st December the christmas lights were turned on. Those that attended enjoyed singing christmas carols, mulled wine, mince pies and the opportunity to win our christmas hamper!
For those that enjoyed the event or would like to participate in the future, please contact us and join our sub committee.
The intention of having a committee is to bring the community together to help run events and ultimately help raise funds to get the village hall open.
